Return

What do wrong payouts leave on your table per year?

Six numbers, one visible formula. You enter how much you turn over on your marketplaces and what share is settled wrongly; the result puts that next to what the subscription costs per year.

Your figures

Six figures from your own records

The starting values are an example of a mid-sized marketplace seller, not a measurement at customers. Only your own figures mean anything.

Your payouts

The revenue that runs through your marketplaces and is paid out, not your total revenue.

Orders with an underpayment, a wrong commission or an unreimbursed return — for most sellers a few percent.

The share of those differences that you already pick out by hand now. The rest slips away unnoticed.

The assumption the whole sum rests on, and the only real estimate. Not every flagged difference comes back: your marketplace rejects some. Set it low if you do not know.

Your time

The time now spent laying exports side by side to see what is wrong.

Gross hourly wage including employer's contributions.

Your usage

The orders merqori matches against the payout per month. Every thousand matched orders costs € 5.00 on top of the base fee.

That is how long the return needs to cover the annual cost, across an even year.

Return divided by the annual cost of the subscription.

The hours are valued over 46 working weeks a year — 52 minus holiday and public holidays.

From annual revenue to what you reclaim

Revenue settled wrongly€45,000
What you lose on that each year now€15,750
Reclaimed with the check€4,725
Those hours, in money€6,992

The whole sum, written out

  • Settled wrongly = annual revenue × share settled wrongly
  • Lost now = settled wrongly × share you do not notice now
  • Reclaimed = lost now × share you recover after all
  • Time value = hours a week × working weeks × hourly cost
  • Return = reclaimed + time value
  • Net = return − subscription × 12

This is a multiplication of your own assumptions, not a forecast and not a guarantee. We do not measure along and cannot promise this outcome. What the tool really does cost out per order, is on the product page: there it lays every order next to the payout and names the difference to the cent, on your own figures.

Questions about this sum

Where do the starting values come from?
They were chosen as a readable example, not measured at customers. They are only there to give the sliders somewhere to start. Set them to your own figures; the outcome of the example tells you nothing about your business.
Which number does the most work here?
The share you reclaim after all. That is the only real assumption in the sum, and the outcome moves with it in direct proportion. Set it low if you do not know: a calculator that convinces you through a high assumption is not a calculator.
Does the tool itself work this way?
No. This page is one sum across your whole revenue. In the tool it is matched per order with your real order amount, commission and payout, and every difference is named to the cent. Those amounts can be traced down to the line.
Should the hours count as a return at all?
Only if that time has value elsewhere. If you do not see it come back, set the hours to zero: the rest of the sum stands.
